1. Introduction
This Electromagnetic pet door is designed
to selectively admit only pets wearing a
collar carrying a magnet. Normally the flap
is prevented from opening into the house by
an electromagnetic catch, thus preventing
stray pets from entering your house.
However, when your pet approaches
wearing the magnet, a detector sited in the
outer edge of the body moulding senses the
magnet and the electromagnetic catch is
automatically depressed. Your pet may then
push open the flap with its nose to enter the
house. As soon as your pet has passed
through the flap the electromagnetic catch
returns to its normal position, so that
following pets without a magnet are
prevented from entering. Pets may exit from
the flap without wearing a magnet.
2. Battery Installation
Ease off the battery cover by pulling on the
tabs positioned at each side. Alternatively,
insert a small screwdriver into the centre
slot located on battery cover and lever away
from body moulding. The recommended
battery is a 9 volt alkaline, size 6F22 (e.g.
Duracell MN1604, Ever Ready Gold Seal
6LF22, etc.). An alkaline battery should give
approximately 12 months normal life.
Alternatively a rechargeable battery may be
used. Connect the battery to the loose
connector and slide into position to the left
hand side of the electromagnetic catch
assembly. (NB- slide battery in terminal end
first). Replace the battery cover firmly.
3. Collar Magnet
The collar magnet should be attached
directly to the pet’s collar. For cats use
the small magnet with the paw print
facing forward and for dogs ensure the
arrow on the dog magnet faces forward
(see Fig. 4). Not doing so will affect this
products performance.
It is recommended that you complete the
identity sticker as even if your pet is unlikely
to get lost, it may decide to lose its collar! To
apply identity label, please refer to (Fig 5).
We recommend the use of a fabric collar
without metal components (name discs
etc.). Check that the pet’s collar is not too
tight nor too loose. (The collar should be
free to pass over the pet’s head.) Ideally the
magnet should hang so that the bottom of
the magnet is level with the outside edge of
the pet door as the pet approaches from the
outside. (See Figs. 1 and 2.) If the pet’s
magnet is not level with the outside edge of
the pet door your pet may experience
difficulty gaining entry as it will not readily be
able to bring its magnet sufficiently close
(within 40mm (1.5”) to the detector. Please
note that although this pet door may be
used for both cats and small dogs, separate
cat and dog magnets are required. Product
performance may be affected if an incorrect
magnet type is used. Both cat magnets and
dog magnets may be purchased from your
retailer or on www.pet-mate.com. Please

4. Training Your Pet
If your pet has never used a pet door before,
you will probably need to entice it through
with its meals to begin with.
1. Introduction

détecteur situé dans Ie bord extérieur du cadre de Ia
porte Iibère automatiquement Ie dispositif
électromagnétique. Votre animal peut alors pousser
Ia porte avec son museau et rentrer chez Iui. Dès
qu’il est passé à travers Ia porte, Ie dispositif
électromagnétique se remet en position normale,
interdisant ainsi de nouveau l’entrée des animaux
non porteurs d’un aimant. Les animaux peuvent
sortir sans porter d’aimant.
2. Insertion des piles
Ouvrir Ie couvercle en tirant sur les languettes de
chaque côté ou en insérant un petit tournevis dans la
fente située au centre du couvercle pour le soulever.
Il est préférable d’utiliser une pile alcaline de 9 volt
de type 6F22 (telle que Duracell MN16O4, Ever
Ready Gold Seal 6LF22, etc.). Une pile alcaline
devrait durer 12 mois en utilisation normale. Vous
pouvez également utiiser une pile rechargeable.
Relier Ia pile au connecteur Iibre et la mettre en
place à gauche du dispositif électromagnétique.
(N.B. - Insérer l’extrémité avec bornes en premier)
Remettre Ie couvercle.
3. Aimant de collier
L'aimant de collier doit être fixé directement sur
le collier de votre animal. Pour les chats, utilisez
le petit aimant avec le motif patte ver le haut et
pour les chiens, assurez-vous que la flèche sur
l’aimant soit orientée vers le haut (voir fig. 4). Le
fait de fixer l’aimant dans le mauvais sens risque
d’affecter ses performances.
Il est recommandé de remplir I’étiquette d’identité,
car même si votre animal ne risque guère de
s’égarer, il peut Iui arriver de perdre son collier! Pour
poser l’étiquette, voir Fig. 5. Nous recommandons
l'utilisation d'un collier en tissu sans éléments
métalliques (disques d'identité, etc.). Vérifiez que Ie
collier ne soit ni trop serré, ni trop large (il doit
pouvoir passer librement sur sa tête). L’aimant devra
de préférence être suspendu de façon à ce que son
arête inférieure soit au même niveau que Ie bord
extérieur du battant de Ia porte quand votre animal
arrive du dehors (voir Fig. 1 et 2). Si l’aimant n’est
pas au niveau de ce bord extérieur, votre animal aura
peut-être des difficultés à entrer, car iI lui sera difficile
d’amener I’aimant suffisamment prêt (à moins de 4
cm) du détecteur.
Veuillez noter que, même si cette porte est destinée
aux chiens comme aux chats, il vous faudra obtenir
des aimants différents pour chien ou pour chat. Le
non-respect de cette recommandation risque
d’affecter les performances du produit. Vous pouvez

4. Comment éduquer votre animal
Si votre animal n’a jamais encore utilisé de porte,
vous devrez probablement l’y encourager en l’attirant
avec de la nourriture.
Some pets may initially be nervous of the
‘click’ produced on operation of the
electromagnetic catch. In such cases you
may prefer to get your pet used to the
operation of the flap without the
electromagnetic catch. To do this, simply
remove the battery and securely tape down
the two locking arms, until your pet is
familiar with its operation.
Please note that we do not recommend
that pets and particularly kittens/puppies
are left alone to use a pet door without
first ensuring that they are completely
familiar with its operation.
5. Troubleshooting
If the electromagnetic catch does not
appear to function correctly please check
the following:
a. New battery is fitted.
b. The collar is attached in the correct
orientation, with the paw print facing forward
for cats and the arrow facing forward for
dogs (see fig 4).
c. All cats using the pet door are wearing
the correct cat magnets and dogs are
wearing dog magnets.
d. Place the pet’s collar around four fingers
of your hand as shown in Fig. 3, so that the
magnet is approximately 100mm - 125mm
(4”- 5”) back from your fingertips.
Move towards the flap with the bottom of the
magnet level with the detector. When the
magnet is within about 40mm (1.5”) of the
detector the electromagnetic catch should
be activated enabling you to push open the
flap with your fingertips.
If the electromagnetic catch operates
correctly when tested as above, try to
observe why the pet is not succeeding, e.g.
is the pet not wearing its collar correctly? Is
the pet door installed at the correct height?
In the unlikely event of the electromagnetic
catch assembly proving to be faulty please
note that the catch assembly may be
removed and returned for replacement, thus
avoiding the need to remove the pet door
entirely. To do this remove the battery cover
and disconnect battery. Unscrew the two
retaining screws for the catch assembly,
then depress the two catches while pulling
forward until assembly is fully removed.

Certains animaux s’inquiètent au début du déclic
causé par Ie dispositif électromagnétique, auquel
cas vous pouvez I’habituer à Ia chatière en l’absence
du dispositif. Pour ce faire, il suffit de retirer la pile et
de bloquer le mécanisme avec du ruban adhésif
jusqu’à ce que l’animal ait eu le temps de se
familiariser avec la porte.
Nous vous conseillons de ne pas laisser seul un
animal, encore moins un chaton ou un chiot,
sans vous assurer auparavant d’abord qu’il
saura se servir de la porte.
5. Difficultés éventuelles
Si le dispositif électromagnétique ne semble pas
fonctionner correctement:
a. Vérifier l’usure de la pile.
b.Vérifier que le collier est correctement orienté
avec le motif de patte vers le haut pour les chats et
la flèche vers le haut pour les chiens (voir fig. 4).
c. Vérifier que le collier du chat porte le type correct
d’aimant pour chat et que le collier du chien porte un
aimant pour chien.
d.Placer le collier de l’animal autour de votre main,
comme indiqué à la Fig. 3, de façon que l’aimant soit
à 100 -125mm du bout de vos doigts.
Avancer vers Ia porte en tenant l’arête inférieure
de l’aimant au niveau du détecteur. Une fois
l’aimant à environ 4cm du détecteur, Ie dispositif
électromagnétique devrait être activé et vous
permettre d’ouvrir le battant en Ie poussant.
Si Ie dispositif électromagnétique fonctionne
correctement, essayez d’observer pourquoi I’animal
ne réussit pas: porte-t-il correctement son collier (voir
section 3) Ia porte est-elle installée à Ia bonne
hauteur? etc.
Si le dispositif s’avère défectueux, il est possible de
le retirer (voir section 4) et de le renvoyer pour en
obtenir un nouveau, ce qui évite de démonter
entièrement Ia porte. Pour ce faire, enlever le
couvercle de la pile et débrancher cette dernière.
Dévisser les deux vis retenant le dispositif et appuyer
sur celui-ci tout le poussant vers l’avant jusqu’à le
sortir complètement.

1. Einleitung
Das Design dieser elektromagnetischen Haustierklappe
gewährt nur jenen Haustieren Zutritt, die den mitgelieferten
Halsbandmagneten tragen. Normalerweise wird das
Öffnen der Tür von außen durch eine elektromagnetische
Sperrvorrichtung verhindert, so dass fremde Haustiere
nicht ins Haus gelangen können. Wenn sich jedoch Ihr
Haustier mit dem Magneten am Halsband der Tür nähert,
wird durch einen Detektor im Außenrahmen der Tür, der auf
den Magnet reagiert, die elektromagnetische Sperre
heruntergedrückt. Ihr Haustier kann dann die Tür mit der
Nase aufstoßen und das Haus betreten. Sofort nach Eintritt
des Haustiers durch die Tür kehrt die eIektromagnetische
Sperre zu ihrer Normalstellung zurück und kein anderes
Haustier kann ohne Magneten die Tür benutzen. Haustiere
können durch die Tür ohne das Tragen eines Magneten
hinausgelangen.
2. Batterie-Einbau
Den Batteriedeckel durch Ziehen der Laschen öffnen, die
sich auf jeder Seite befinden. Als Alternative einen kleinen
Schraubenzieher in den mittleren Schlitz im Batteriedeckel
hineinstecken und vom Gehäuse wegstemmen.
Edisonbatterien (alkalische Batterien) von 9 Volt, Größe
6F22 sind empfohlen (z.B. Duracell MN1604, Ever Ready
Gold Seal 6LF22 usw). Eine alkalische Batterie läuft
durchschnittlich für ungefähr 12 Monate. Eine andere
Möglichkeit wäre eine aufladbare Batterie. Die Batterie mit
dem abnehmbaren Verbindungsstück verbinden und in die
angegebene Stellung links von der eIektromagnetischen
Sperreinrichtung schieben. (NB - das Batteriepolende
zuerst einschieben). Den Batteriedeckel fest wieder
aufsetzen.
3. Halsbandmagnet
Der Halsbandmagnet muss direkt am Halsband ihres
Haustiers befestig werden. Für Katzen verwenden Sie
den kleinen Magnet mit dem Pfotenabdruck nach vorn
und für Hunde stellen Sie sicher, dass der Pfeil auf dem
Hundemagnet nach vorne zeigt (siehe Abb. 4). Wenn
dies nicht beachtet wird, wird die Leistungsfähigkeit
dieses Produkts beeinträchtigt.
Es wird empfohlen, dass Sie die Identitätskarte ausfüllen,
denn obwohl Haustiere nur selten verloren gehen, könnte
das Haustier sein Halsband verlieren! Um die
Identitätsmarke anzubringen, beziehen Sie sich bitte auf
Abb. 5. Wir empfehlen die Verwendung eines aus Gewebe
bestehenden Halsbands ohne Metallanhänger (wie z.B.
Namensmarken). Sicherstellen, dass das Halsband nicht
zu eng oder zu weit ist (es sollte lose genug sein, sich um
über den Kopf des Haustiers streifen zu lassen). Im
Idealfall soIIte das untere Ende des Magneten auf gleicher
Höhe mit dem äußeren Rahmen der Haustierklappe sein
(siehe Abb. 1 und 2). Wenn dies nicht der Fall ist, könnte Ihr
Haustier Schwierigkeiten haben, die Tür zu öffnen, da der
Magnet nicht nahe genug an den Detektor herangebracht
wird (4 cm). Bitte beachten Sie, dass obwohl diese Tür
von sowohl Katzen wie auch kleinen Hunden benutzt
werden kann, separate Katzen- und Hundemagneten
benötigt werden. Produktleistung kann bei Verwendung
eines falschen Magnetentyps beeinträchtigt werden.
Beide Katze- und Hundemagneten können bei Ihrem
Haustierhändler oder auf www.pet-mate.com erworben
werden. Bitte beachten Sie die folgenden Teilenummern,
beim Kauf neuer Magnete für dieses Produkt:

4. Abrichtung des Haustiers
Falls Ihr Haustier noch nie eine Tür benutzt hat,
müssen Sie es wahrscheinlich anfangs mit Futter durch
die Tür locken.
Manche Haustiere sind zuerst etwas nervös, wenn sie das
Klicken hören, das durch die elektromagnetische Sperre
ausgelöst wird. Sollte dies bei lhnen der Fall sein, können
Sie lhr Haustier vorerst an die Benutzung der Klappe ohne
Einsatz der Sperrvorrichtung gewöhnen. Hierzu müssen
Sie lediglich die Batterie entfernen und die zwei
Schließarme befestigen, bis Ihr Haustier mit der Bedienung
vertraut ist.
Bei Haustieren und insbesondere Welpen/ Kätzchen
wird empfohlen, erst sicherzustellen, dass sie mit dem
Funktionieren einer Haustierklappe vertraut sind,
bevor man sie allein lässt.
5. Fehlersuche
Falls die elektromagnetische Sperre nicht richtig zu
funktionieren scheint, prüfen Sie bitte folgendes:
a. Neue Batterie wird eingebaut.
b. Das Halsband ist in der richtigen Richtung befestigt, mit
dem Pfotenabdruck nach vorne für Katzen und der Pfeil
nach vorne für Hunde (siehe Abb. 4).
c. Katzenmagneten sollten von allen Katzen getragen
werden, bzw. Hundemagneten von den Hunden, die diese
Haustierklappe verwenden.
d. Das Tierhalsband über vier Finger lhrer Hand wie in
Abb. 3 streifen, so dass der Magnet ungefähr 10 bis
12.5cm von den Fingerspitzen entfernt ist.

ist. Bei einer Entfernung von ca. 4cm vom Detektor sollte
die elektromagnetische Sperre aktiviert werden, so dass

Wenn die elektromagnetische Sperreinrichtung richtig
funktioniert, nachdem Sie oben angeführte Tests
durchgeführt haben, lhr Haustier jedoch die Tür trotzdem
nicht öffnen kann, prüfen Sie, ob z.B. das Halsband lhres
Haustiers richtig angelegt ist, und ob die Haustierklappe in
der richtigen Höhe angebracht ist usw.
lm unwahrscheinlichen Fall, dass die elektromagnetische
Sperre defekt ist, kann die Sperrvorrichtung separat
entfernt und zur Ersetzung zurückgeschickt werden. Es ist
dadurch nicht nötig, die ganze Haustierklappe zu
entfernen. Den Batteriedeckel entfernen und die Batterie
ausschalten. Die zwei Befestigungsschrauben für die
Sperrvorrichtung losschrauben, dann die Sperre
niederdrücken und nach vorne ziehen, bis die Vorrichtung
völlig entfernt ist.
